Who We Are

The efforts to revitalized socio-cultural heritage of Maharlika in the Philippines simply have not kept pace with the poverty problem itself. A bigger, broader effort is needed if the response is to catch up. For many, the answer lies in the coordinated cooperation of various society-building movements nationwide. The partnership is an aggregation of community-based people’s organization that works together towards a common goal to transform and improve many lives of the marginal sectors. The partnership's mission is Ang KaSaMa collaborative efforts made up of multi-sector grouping that organized into several socio-economic zones.

Ang KaSaMa, Inc. is an acronym known as Ang Katipunan ng mga Samahang Maharlika, Inc., a national confederation of regional socio-economic self-reliant people’s organizations, NGOs, cooperatives, and foundations that can be traced way back in 1982. A non-stock, non-profit organization legally registered at the Securities and Exchange Commission on November 19, 2001.

Ang KaSaMa, Inc. - is represented by the nine (9) regional socio-economic self-reliant movements, such as the:
  • Timpuyog People's Movement, Inc. (TPMI) - Ilocos Region
  • Taga Cordillera Kami, Inc. (TCKI) - Cordillera Region
  • Lapiang Maharlika sa Gitnang Luzon (LMGL) - Central Luzon Region
  • Ang Maharlikang Katagalugan (Ang Makata) - NCR & Tagalog Region
  • Kasaru People's Movement, Inc. (KPMI) - Bicol Region
  • Kaigsuonang Sugbuhanon, Inc. (KASUGBO) - Central Visayas
  • KALIWAT - Western Visayas Region
  • Waray Tupong - Eastern Visayas Region
  • Panaghugpong Mindanaw - Mindanao Region

THE MEANING OF THE LOGO
Ang KaSaMa

The sun signifies advancement and development. The nine rays of the sun refer to the nine socio-economic movements in Maharlika. The Alibata letter, symbol for Katipunan (society), in the middle of the sun signifies unity of the Maharlikan people.
