The Maharlikang Katagalugan (ANG MAKATA), a local movement based in Tagalog Region inaugurated a local office for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals and Plants (PCAP) located at Maharlika Paradise, Montalban, Rizal last June 24, 2010. The inauguration started with the lighting of a torch by Kashinath Real, President of Alyansa ng mga Kabataang Maharlika (AKMA), with members of affiliate youth organizations as Maharllika Social Service Volunteers (MSSV), Kayrupa Youth Organization (KYO) and Ang Kababaihang Maharlika para sa Kalayaan (Ang Kamalayan).
Before the opening ceremony, Sigfried Ranada, dubbed as “Ama ng mga Awiting Maharlika” of Kabalen sung an environmental song “Bata ang Bunga.” The messages were then delivered by former Vice President of AKSM, Sergio Del Cano Jr. of the Philippine Education Theater Association Society (PETAS), Gian Karlo de Jesus, AKSM Director and Florence Cinco of MAWF.
PCAP is an international organization founded in 1977 by Neo-Humanist Philosopher Prabhat Rainjan Sarkar. It aims to protect all species of flora and fauna from being subjected to any form of injustice. It also deals with broad ecological issues that endanger the ecosystems of planet Earth. Mainly, the organization aims to develop personal character to enable the person to intuitively handle these issues.
Since its inception, PCAP has grown to become a global movement. As said, it is committed to preserve the well-being and safety of animals and plants. The purpose for preserving them is not merely to protect humans but more to enable humans to develop an inner feeling of compassion and love for all creatures. This is rightfully experienced by those who live a neo-humanist lifestyle.
In Maharlika Paradise, PCAP will be the centre for education and training of the local youth on the importance of preserving and maintaining the environment and wildlife.
The concept of building a PCAP center in the heart of the wooded lands started two years ago. Finally this year, with the dedication of our Full Time Volunteers (FTV) Jayendra and Chandra (who are originally from Iloilo) made this dream come true. Jay and Chandra were 6th Sunrise Festival Maharlika Awardees as "Volunteer of the Year 2009." Since March, they have been painstakingly and selflessly working for the beautification of Maharlika Paradise.
